Coffee From Volcan to be Sold at Starbucks

Late last year the Seattle-based coffee giant signed an agreement with the Carmen Estate coffee farm in Volcan to push Starbucks newest addition to it’s Reserve Coffee line. Starbaucks is considering offering this new coffee, called Panama Paso Ancho at most of it’s most popular locations in the U.S. and internationally.

Carmen Estate has been producing excellent highland coffee for half a decade. Carlos Aguilera Franceschi is the current owner of the farm which was set up in 1960. Carmen Estate produces 72,000kg of unique quality green coffee beans per year.

The Carmen Estate coffee farm is located in the Paso Ancho section of Volcan at an altitude of over 5,000 feet above sea level. The chilly nights and dry, sunny days combine to form optimal growing conditions. Moreover, the rich volcanic black soil is perfect for the cultivation of high-quality coffee.
